Simple and Easy Morning Routine for Writers

No matter what I try, I am simply not a morning person. I watch YouTube videos about people who can wake up at 5am to make time for meditation and superfood smoothies and I am baffled by their commitment. I probably wouldn’t be able to wake up that early if my house was on fire.

With that in mind, I am always looking for a way to make my morning routine fast and easy but also special enough that I feel like I have a reason to wake up. Being an author, I find I need to get up on the right foot if I’m going to be productive during the day. There is nothing worse than a bad morning that ruins your creativity for the day!

I’ve put together a step-by-step guide for my morning schedule for anyone that finds themselves in the same situation as me. If you hate to wake up, this post is for you!

My very simple morning routine:

6:45am Wake up. Snooze the alarm. Actually wake up fifteen minutes later.

7:00am Pick out clothes for the day.

7:05am Turn the coffee pot on.

7:10am Shower.

7:25am Beauty routine in the following order:

  1. Toner

  2. Face primer

  3. Eye cream

  4. Body lotion

  5. Sunscreen

7:40am Make a cup of coffee and a smoothie.

7:50am Quick makeup routine. I only wear BB cream, concealer, bronzer and mascara for the most part so this cuts a lot of time from getting ready in the morning.

8:00am Pull tarot cards and finish coffee.

8:15am Start the day!

I hope this was a useful post for anyone interested in developing a morning routine that is easy to stick to and sets you up for a word-filled day ahead. I find when I follow these steps in the morning, I feel refreshed and energized which is exactly what I need as an author.

Do you have a morning routine? Share it with me! I’d love to see how other people start the day.

Stay magical,

Alexis
