AetherWars: Book Launch Day

AetherWars: Book Launch Day

The last book of the AetherBorn Saga is finally here and I cannot believe it! This series has given me so much in the last year and I am so proud and humbled by how well it was received in the book community. Thank you to everyone who has purchased a book or left a review; it truly means everything!

The final book was so exciting to write and takes place in a new world. I enjoyed the worldbuilding so much that I will definitely be considering a high or epic fantasy series in the future. Make sure to pick up the book while it’s on launch price before it goes up and complete the series. I think you’ll really enjoy the twists and turns I put Ruby through this time.

Plan, Create, Achieve - Podcast Reveal

Plan, Create, Achieve - Podcast Reveal

The day is finally here! I am so excited to announce the launch of my new podcast: Plan, Create, Achieve.

I have been toying with the idea of launching a podcast for quite some time but wanted to make sure that I came forward with the type of content that would serve my community best. While it was hard to narrow down the nature of the podcast, I knew it had to revolve around creative entrepreneurship and productivity; the two things that truly make up who I am.

How to Successfully Get Through NanoWrimo Month

How to Successfully Get Through NanoWrimo Month

April is upon us and with such, the month of NanoWrimo has begun! This month (though not as grueling as November) can still be difficult to get through, especially if you are not prepared. With everything that is going on in the world right now, it could be easy to assume that you’ll have no problem hitting that word count. I mean, you’re just stuck at home, right?

Well, that’s not quite so, is it?

Being at home on a regular basis could actually do more to hinder your productivity than increase it. There are constant distractions, family members that need attention and Netflix shows that require binging. Plus, the current situation in the world might just simply have your mind spinning, making writing the last thing on your agenda.

Escape From the City: Social Distancing Vacation

Escape From the City: Social Distancing Vacation

With everything that is going on in the world right now, it is becoming more and more difficult for me to stay creative and productive while being cooped up at home. Prior to the pandemic, we had planned on vacationing in Miami but of course with how things turned out, the trip was cancelled. Instead of falling into a pit of melancholy, we decided to use the social distancing to our advantage and completely remove ourselves from society for a week. We rented a small chalet in the middle of nowhere about 40 minutes from Quebec City and I eagerly packed bags to get out of Toronto.

Kartega: Book Launch Day

Kartega: Book Launch Day

It’s finally here! After a lot of hard work, Kartega is has been published. Working on this book has been such an adventure and I could not be more proud of how it turned out.

A massive thank you to my editor, Fox Edits, and my cover illustrator Odette Bach for their wonderful work of helping me get this book out. It completely surpasses all of my expectations and I’m tearfully joyful with the final result.

Kartega is a YA science fiction with adventurous characters, magic and a brand new world.

Character Interview with Sid from Kartega

Character Interview with Sid from Kartega

With the upcoming release of Kartega, I get a lot of questions about who the protagonist of this book and what she is like. Instead of me droning on over a character description, I thought I’d let Sid tell you more about herself in this interview. She’s one quirky girl and I can’t wait to hear what she has to tell you! Please welcome to the blog, Sid from Kartega.

The Only 3 Things You Need to Do to Stay Productive

The Only 3 Things You Need to Do to Stay Productive

Something about the winter months makes my productivity level sink like hit pirate ship. I find myself wasting more time, sulking and doing a general lot of nothing when I could be writing. As a rule, I have held myself accountable to be a fairly productive person; I have a ton of planners, I enjoy organizing my time, and I genuinely enjoy working. But even the most work-driven person can lag on their productivity and if you have the type of job that requires you to set your own schedule, it’s much easier to fall into the trap of not getting things done.

My Most Memorable Book Love

My Most Memorable Book Love

I have loved books for longer that I’ve loved people. Even as a young child, I considered my books my friends. The fun friends that didn’t have a babysitter or a curfew and could go on epic adventures any time they wished. Although I had many book loves through the years and an attachments to their fables and tales, there is one book that had resonated with me so much that I feel its presence in my core to this day. A true book love of sorts.

For me, that love lies with Keith Miller’s Book of Flying, a fantastical adventure that follows a wingless librarian to find the winged girl he loves. In fact, I loved this book so much that I named my pet rabbit Pico, after the librarian himself.

Food Feature: Russian Olivye Salad

Food Feature: Russian Olivye Salad

Since I was quite young, my family moved around fairly often. We left our home in Moscow, Russia when I was only eight and moved to Israel. From there, we landed in Canada and I have spent a few years living in New York as well. With this many places to have lived before I hit my thirties, I have developed a very confusing palate when it comes to food.

Anyone who knows me well, knows I will eat anything!

My Writing Rituals

My Writing Rituals

As much as I love what I do, I’m the first one to admit that writing can be hard! Sometimes, all you want to do is binge shows and eat garbage food. On the days when I am less than fully motivated to hit the laptop and get some words down, I have a few rituals and routines that I follow to get me in the mood to write.

After all, sitting down to write is almost like a date with myself. A very labor inducing date but a date nonetheless.

My Tarot Deck Collection

My Tarot Deck Collection

This year, I have decided to take some time and put more emphasis on the unseen things in life. I joined a yoga studio, I make time for self-reflection and meditation, and I am giving Tarot readings a chance.

When I first started pulling cards and doing readings I was much younger and unfortunately did not give it the full attention the process deserved. Now that I am much, much (and one more much) older, I can finally get back to the cards.

I started the year with one old deck and am happy to say that I am up to four decks and a set of oracle cards that I use regularly. While these are not the only decks I would recommend, they are the ones that I am personally heavily drawn to. If you’re looking to get a deck for yourself, I hope this post helps inspire you to pick one up. It’s truly an amazing thing to add to your life!

Simple and Easy Morning Routine for Writers

Simple and Easy Morning Routine for Writers

No matter what I try, I am simply not a morning person. I watch YouTube videos about people who can wake up at 5am to make time for meditation and superfood smoothies and I am baffled by their commitment. I probably wouldn’t be able to wake up that early if my house was on fire.

With that in mind, I am always looking for a way to make my morning routine fast and easy but also special enough that I feel like I have a reason to wake up. Being an author, I find I need to get up on the right foot if I’m going to be productive during the day. There is nothing worse than a bad morning that ruins your creativity for the day!

My Favorite Place on Earth: Things To Do in St. Martin

My Favorite Place on Earth: Things To Do in St. Martin

We try to take a couple of vacations every year and one of the places we love going back to is St. Martin. We love it so much that we actually ended up getting a timeshare there so we can go back repeatedly. The entire island is small enough to go across in about an hour but there are innumerable great things to do while you’re there.

If you’re planning a trip sometime soon, I highly recommend it! They had a bit of a set back with the hurricane last year but are on track to be fully rebuilt by next year. We’re already booking our tickets!

5 Writing Prompts: Escape From Writer's Block

5 Writing Prompts: Escape From Writer's Block

There is nothing worse than having a brilliant idea for a novel or story, thinking about it for days then finally making time to sit write and… Crickets. Though I am a very dedicated plotter, I still feel my mind bogged down and blocked from time to time. Life just simply gets in the way. My mind rustles and fills with my to do lists, dinner ideas, and the occasional stream of YouTube cat videos.

Top 10 Things to Do When You're in Dublin

Top 10 Things to Do When You're in Dublin

I’ve recently had the pleasure of visiting Dublin, Ireland and though our trip was fairly short, we got the chance to see everything on our list. It was such a beautiful trip and I will most definitely be making sure to go back (this time without a list so I can just explore the city).

If you’re looking to pay Dublin a visit, I have put together a list of the best 10 things that I loved while being there. It’s a good combination of tourist attractions and general city highlights so I hope it helps you out on your trip!

DIY Pocket Bookmark

DIY Pocket Bookmark

If you follow me on social media, you know how incredibly obsessive I become when it comes to planning, stationery and organization. For today’s post, I am sharing a very easy DIY of a pocket bookmark that you can use in your books or planners. I have one in my author planner but have also made one for reading so I can keep a pack of sticky notes while I read. Very useful for marking some of my favorite quotes!

Top 5 Podcasts for Writers

Top 5 Podcasts for Writers

If you spend most of your day in transit like me, you probably have a lot of time on your hands waiting around in traffic. I used to listen to music while I commute but in the last few years I have taken a liking to plugging into some good podcasts. With so many options out there, the list of what you can listen to is essentially limitless and the growth of podcasts geared to writers is greatly increasing.

Book Cover Inspiration

Book Cover Inspiration

When I began indie publishing, my biggest struggle was getting book covers that not only spoke to the reader and the genre of the books but ones that I personally could be proud of. Having come from a design background, I chose to design my own covers and to this day, it was one of the most difficult tasks I’ve ever had to do!

Not only could I not make a decision but when I did finalize some ideas, I found myself looking for flaws in other parts of the visuals. It was excruciating!
